Born: 1863, Hellevoetsluis, Z.H., Holland. Died: 1941, Depok, Java.

 

career:

Went to the D.E.I. in 1888 and was appointed Assistant on a tobacco estate of the Rotterdam-Siak Planting Comp.; Shortly after he settled in Java, first as draughtsman of an irrigation-brigade at Cheribon and subsequently employed in the Sugar and coffee-culture. Also ex-teacher at a technical school at Batavia. Since 1915 living at Depok, south of Batavia.

Arachnis vanmullemii J.J.Sm. was named after him.

 

Collecting localities:

Java, till 1931; Ceram: Piroe (June 1928).

 

collections:

Herb. Bog. [BO]: 3 nos from Ceram, and probably other plants.

He repeatedly sent plants to Hort. Bog., mainly orchids and teratological specimens.
