Born: 1817, Rotterdam, Holland.

 

career:

Joined the D.E.I. Government service in 1836, first at Soerabaja and since 1837 at Madioen, both in E. Java; in 1846 appointed Assistant Resident at Rau, Sumatra West Coast, and in 1847 ditto at Tanah Datar in the same government;1 since 1853 Resident of Tapanoeli (W. Sumatra); from 1856-57 on European leave, returning in the latter year to Java as Inspector of Agriculture; in 1858 Resident at Pekalongan, in 1862 ditto at Rembang, both in Centr. Java; in 1862 on sick leave to Europe and pensioned off in 1864.

He presented natural history objects to the ‘Natuurkundige Vereeniging’ at Batavia, in the years 1852-53.
