Piepers, Marius Cornelis

Born: 1835, Amersfoort, U., Holland. Died: 1919, The Hague, Z.H., Holland.

 

career:

A jurist who joined the D.E. Indian Government in 1863, and finally was pensioned off in 1894 when vice-president of the High Court of Justice.

Ceratostylis piepersii J.J.Sm. was named after him.

 

collections:

Herb. Bog. [BO]: some plants from Batavia (W. Java) and orchids on behalf of J.J. Smith from the Padang Highlands and Padang Pandjang (Sumatra West Coast);1 also in Herb. Leiden [L].

His entomological collection from Java is in the Museum at Leiden.
