Born: about 1893, Glyndyl, Bangor, North Wales, U.K.

Died: by motor-car accident near London, England.

 

career:

Took a medical degree in London in 1918, and came to Siam (Thailand) as Dr Malcolm A. Smithís wife in 1921. Besides collecting in peninsular Siam, she visited Malaya, Hainan (1923), Cambodia (1925), and Celebes and Timor (1925). Returned to England in 1925, afterwards working on ferns at Kew.

From 1928-30 she worked at Kew on ferns of the Malay Peninsula; she is the authoress of some pteridological papers.

Her husband is working now on reptiles at the British Museum.

Several plants have been named in her honour. Lobelia eryliae Fischer was named after her.

 

Collecting localities:

1922. Malay Peninsula:1 Fraser Hill, upon the Main Range.-19 ... Malay Archipelago. She spent 6 months, chiefly in Celebes (visit to G. Bonthain, in the SW. peninsula)2 and Timor (Lesser Sunda Islands).
