Born: 1901, Grijpskerk, Z., Holland.

 

career:

Agriculturist, educated and graduated (Dr’s degree) at Wageningen Agricultural College; since 1924 Consulting Agriculturist in the D.E.I., at first stationed at Pasoeroean (E. Java), subsequently at Malang (ditto) (1928-29), and Buitenzorg; in 1933 appointed Assistant in the Division of Agricultural Economy of the Department of Economic Affairs, later high official in the same department. In 1941 Professor of Agricultural Economy at the Agricultural Faculty at Buitenzorg, besides acting president of that faculty. He was interned by the Japanese, and was evacuated to Holland after the war. In 1947 he was appointed Professor of Rural Economy at Wageningen Agricultural College.
