Born: 1888, Apeldoorn, Gld,-Holland. Died: 1964, The Hague, Netherlands.

 

career:

Forest Officer, educated at Wageningen (Dr s degree in 1924),1 went to the D.E.I. in 1909. At first stationed in the teak districts of Java; from 1917-31 on the staff of the Forest Research Institute at Buitenzorg, since 1921 as Director; in 1932 appointed Chief of the Division of Forests (excluding Teak) in Java and Madoera; from 1933-36 Chief Inspector of the D.E.I. Forest Service. After his retirement departing to Holland.

 

Collecting localities:

Centr. Java: in the forestries of Tanggoeng and Ngorogoenoeng near Semarang (1917-19); E. Java: N. Kediri (1918); N. Sumatra: Atjeh, Takengon (1926).2

 

collections:

In Java he collected on behalf of Beumée in the latter’s series (see there); material in Herb. Bog. [BO]. Herb. For. Res. Inst. Buitenzorg [BZF]: 29 bb. nos from Atjeh, and material from Centr. Java.

[N.B. of R. Wind Hzn it is also said that he collected in Beumée's series, one statement is incorrect.]
