Behr, Hermann Hans

Born: 1819, Köthen, Germany. Died: 1904.

 

career:

A medical man who was for a long time a resident in South Australia. In Dec. 1849 he wrote a letter from Manila telling of his plan to stay there and to set up as a medical practitioner. Later he settled in California. Author of some botanical papers1.

Aristida behriana F.Muell. was named in his honour.

 

collections:

He made natural history collections; Australian plants in Herb. Melbourne [MEL]. As yet no Philippine collections known.
