Born: 1893, Amsterdam, Holland. Died: 1964, The Hague, Netherlands.

 

career:

Botanist, educated at Amsterdam; Assistant in the University of Amsterdam, 1916-25, taking his Dr’s degree in 1925; Botanist at the Experiment Station of the A.V.R.O.S., Medan, Deli (Sumatra East Coast), 1926-27; Mycologist at the Buitenzorg Herbarium, 1928-41; since 1933 at the same time Extraordinary Professor of Botany in the Faculty of Medicine at Batavia; in 1941 appointed Professor in the latter faculty and in the Faculty of Agriculture (Buitenzorg). After World War II he was evacuated to Holland, and returned to Java in July 1947.

He is the author of many cytological, and principally mycological papers.

Boedijniopeziza and other Fungi were named after him.

1926-27. Sumatra East Coast: between Brastagi and Medan, Laudeboekdeboek (June 20, 1926), etc.-W. Java: Tjikampek (teak forest) (Aug. 2, 1929); Noesa Kambangan (isl. S of Centr. Java) (Febr. 1931); W. Java: G. Karang (Bantam) (May 26-27, 1931); E. Java: Pasoeroean (June 1931); Krakatau group (Nov. 1932 and Jan., Apr., Oct., and Dec. 1933; Apr. 1934): Krakatau, Anak Krakatau, Verlaten Eiland; in April 1934 besides visiting P. Edam and Toppershoedje; E. Java: G. Pandan (Kediri Res.) (Apr. 1935); W. Java: G. Patoeha (July 1939).

 

collections:

Herb. Bog. [BO]: principally Fungi; from the above-mentioned localities phanerogams too, e.g. ± 50 nos from Krakatau,1 7 from Noesa Kambangan, 7 from G. Pandan (some remarkable ones), 12 nos from G. Patoeha. The plants from Tjikampek were numbered van Steenis (leg. Boedijn) 3052-3065; the other phanerogams prob­ably numbered in one series with his Fungi. His collections total about 3000 numbers.
