Born: 1886, Amsterdam, Holland. Died: 1969, Netherlands.

career:

Zoologist, educated at Amsterdam University; on the staff of the Marine Biological Laboratory at Den Helder, 1908-14; Zoological Assistant at Leiden University, 1915-19; at the Marine Biological Laboratory at Batavia, 1919-33 (since 1923 Head); from 1927-33 besides Extraordinary Professor at the Medical College, Batavia. He retired in 1935, living at Hilversum (Holland) since 1933.
