Born: 1851, Nijkerk, Gld, Holland. Died: 1915, Groningen, Holland.

 

career:

Professor of Chemistry and Pharmacology at Tokyo, who, on the home voyage to Holland, stayed 4 months at Buitenzorg, Java (Oct. 1885-Febr. 1886)1, and made a collection of dried plants in the Botanic Garden. In 1897 appointed Professor of Organic Chemistry at Groningen University, Holland.
