Born: 1912, Hewlett, Long Island, N.Y., U.S.A.

 

career:

Educated at Brooks School, Mass., joined the Museum of Comparative Zoology, Harvard, Cambridge, in 1932; subsequently ornithological collector attached to the Asiatic Primate Expedition (Harvard) to Siam and Borneo under H.J. Coolidge (see there) in 1937. Besides he joined expeditions to Panama (1936), Peru (1939), and Yucatan (1940), and then entered the Army on account of World War II.

 

Collecting localities:

1937. Br. N. Borneo, Mt Kinabalu:1 Jesselton-Tagop (May 31), Tagop-Bongol (June 1), to Singaron (2), to Kiau-Tenompoh-Bundu Tuan (3), Bundu Tuan (4-7), to Lumu Lumu (8), to Kamburanga and Paka Cave (Aug. 4), to summit Lowe’s Peak and back to Paka (5), collecting at Paka (10 days), to Man (16), to the coast (28).

Herb. Arn. Arbor. [A]: 125 nos from Mt Kinabalu. The plants are sometimes cited as collected by Coolidge & Griswold, but Coolidge never ascended Kinabalu.
