Born: 1844, Berlin, Germany. Died: 1914, Berlin.

 

career:

Well-known mycologist, since 1880 professor at Berlin; he travelled in Java, staying for a few weeks at Buitenzorg in February 1909.1

Lycopodium magnusianum Hert. was named after him.
