Born: 1940, Berlin, Germany.

 

career:

Took his ‘Diplom Volkswirt’ (economist) at Heidelberg University, Südasien Institut (1966), and subsequently read at Cornell University (1967/68). He spent 15 months in 1969-70 in Portuguese Timor to study the ethnography and vegetation, collecting voucher specimens. He worked in the Baucau-Viqueque area. A Ph.D. thesis is forthcoming.
