Born: 1893, Wisch, Gld, Holland.

 

career:

For many years a schoolmaster, attented Wageningen Agricultural College, and was appointed Consulting Agriculturist in the D.E.I. towards the end of 1923; from 1924-26 stationed at Bandoeng (W. Java), 1926-29 at Koetaradja (N. Sumatra), 1931-33 at Pontianak (W. Borneo),1 1933 at Buitenzorg (Java); in 1934 temporarily in charge of the Agricultural schools at Malang and Soekaboemi; in 1941 promoted to Inspector of the Agricultural Service; retired in 1946.

 

Collecting localities:

W. Borneo: Ngabang (Apr. 1931); in coconut plantations etc. (Sept. 1931, with A.J. Bal); coastal region between Pemangkat and Pontianak (end 1931 or early in 1932 with H. Loos); in 1932 in the subdivision of Semitau.

 

collections:

Herb. Bog. [BO]: 42 nos near Ngabang, viz 121-150 with Bal, 151-166 with Loos, and 167-169; a no 28 of Semitau Subdivision (pres. through the intermediary of the For. Res. Inst. Buitenzorg in Jan. 1933). Herb. For. Res. Inst. Buitenzorg (see there) [BZF]: W. Borneo plants (pres. 1932).

He presented living orchids to Hort. Bog. (c. 1933), probably from Borneo too.
