career:

= ? Charles Moore (1820, Dundee, Scotland; 1905, Sydney, N.S.W., Australia), Director of the Botanic Garden at Sydney, 1847-96. Writer on the flora of Australia. In 1850 he made an expedition to some South Sea islands (New Hebrides, Queen Charlotte group, Solomon Islands and New Caledonia). He might have collected in the Bismarck Archipelago too.

Collected also Cyperaceae in Duke of York I.

Chas. Moore is cited as the collector of ferns in New Britain and Duke of York Island in 1879, specimens of which in Herb. Bonaparte (= Paris [P]) (cf. Bonaparte, Notes ptéridol., fast. 1, 1915, p. 188 and l.c. fast. 5, 1917, p. 123). These might be duplicates coll. by J. Duff or others and sent under Moore’s name as Director of the Herbarium.
