Born: 1848, Delft, Z.H., Holland.

 

career:

Joined the D.E.I. Civil Service in 1869, and was stationed in Borneo, Sumatra and the Moluccas. From 1876-81 at the disposal of the Resident of Ternate, in 1894 appointed Resident of Ternate and in 1896 of Ambon; at his own request dismissed in 1900.

He made many tours of inspection to New Guinea, but as far as we know he did not make any collections in that island.
