Born: 1886, Oostende, Belgium. Died: 1969.

 

career:

Hydrobiologist, educated at Ghent University (Ph. Dr 1911); from 1915-18 Zoological Assistant in the Marine Biological Laboratory at Batavia; from 1918-21 officer for Freshwater Fishery, stationed at Tasikmalaja, W. Java.1 In 1922 he returned to Belgium, took up the medical study (M.D. 1924), and went twice to the Congo; Professor of Zoology at Ghent since 1926.

Author of several microbiological papers on Java.

Herb. Bog. [BO]: some plants from Java (pres. 1919-21). He collected mosses on G. Patoeha (2000-2500 m alt.) in W. Java in 1921;2 in Herb. Dixon (= Brit. Mus. [BM]).
