Palmer van den Broek, Charles Louis Joseph

Born: 1862, Soerakarta, Java. Died: 1937, The Hague, Holland.



Was educated in Holland and came back to the D.E.I. in 1887, in the employ of the Civil Service; finally Resident of Ternate (1912-15); subsequently retired.

Author of a paper on the Batang-Hari Districts in Sumatra.1

He is commemorated in the genus Palmervandenbroekia Gibbs, as he was of great assistance to the authoress, when she was exploring in New Guinea.

1912. N. Sumatra: Karobatak Lands.-1915. Dutch North New Guinea: Tanah Merah Bay and W. slope Cyclop Mts. -1916. Moluccas: Batjan.



Herb. Bog. [BO]: some duplicates, viz nos 12-14 from Sumatra and nos 15-17 from Batjan (pres. by the Kol. Inst. Amsterdam).

Hort. Bog.: New Guinea plants.
