Died: Nov. 15, 1801, at sea on the way from Timor to New Holland.

 

career:

Student gardener attached to a French expedition under Capt. Baudin (died 1803) (see itinerary below).

He is commemorated in the genus Sautiera Decne. (cf. Backer, Verkl. Woordenb., 1936).

 

Collecting localities:

Voyage in ‘La Naturaliste’ and ‘Le Géographe’, 1800-04.1 Detailed data cf. sub Leschenault and the other members, Riedlé and Guichenot. Timor was visited from Aug. 21-Nov. 12, 1801.

The collection was studied together with those of the other members of the expedition.3
