Born: 1893, Zwolle, O., Holland.

 

career:

Forest Officer who was in the employ of the D.E. Indian Forest Service since 1919. For many years stationed in Sumatra, first at Medan, since June 1921 at Fort de Kock; from October 1925 in Benkoelen, placed at the disposal of the Head of the Mining Department; from April 1927 in Java; after World War II on half-pay; in 1947 Inspector in W. Java, stationed at Bandoeng; in 1948 on European sickleave.

Author of some papers in the periodical Tectona,1 and of some typed reports on trips to Bantam and Trouwerseiland.

 

Collecting localities:

Between 1919-22. Sumatra East Coast and W. Sumatra (Tapanoeli). Evidently assisted by Galoengi, a native collector, in the Karo Lands. On the Karo Plateau he collected as late as Dec. 14, 1922.-1925 or 1926. S. Sumatra: Benkoelen.-Between 1931-35. W. Java: at Lebak and Buitenzorg (1931), etc.

In Herb. For. Res. Inst. Buitenzorg (see there) [BZF]: 159 nos from northern part of Sumatra (actually collected by Galoengi ?, see there), 34 from S. Sumatra (Benkoelen), and some from Java; plants numbered in the bb. and Ja. series.
