career:

Educated at Wageningen Agricultural College; from 1940-41 Pedologist of the Soil Science Institute, Buitenzorg (Java); after the Japanese occupation, during which he was a P.O.W., he joined the Forest Service and was stationed in Borneo; in 1948 on sick-leave to Europe.

Collecting localities:

1941. When still on the staff of the Soil Science Institute he made an exploration in the coastal region of Ketapang, Matan Distr., SW. Borneo, where he collected on a sandy strip near the Soengei Pesagoean, between July 1-Aug. 7.
