Born: 1825, Batavia, Java. Died: 1908, Grissee, Java.

 

career:

Was appointed clerk in the General Secretary’s office at Buitenzorg; in 1851 student at the Banka tin-mining, from 1853-56 Manager of the same; from 1858-60 Warehouse-Keeper of the salt-depot at Grissee, and from 1867-74 once more Manager of the Banka tin-mining. He was pensioned off in 1877. He lend Teysmann a helping hand, when the latter visited Banka in 1869/70.

Goniothalamus slingerlandtianus Scheff. was named after him (cf. Backer, Verkl. Woordenb., 1936).
