Sunier, Armand Louis Jean

Born: 1886, Rotterdam, Holland.

 

career:

Zoologist, educated at Leiden and Groningen universities, taking his Ph.Dr’s degree at Groningen in 1911. From 1911-23 on the staff of the Marine Biological Laboratory at Batavia,1 since 1914 Head of that institution; in 1923 appointed Custodian of the Natural History Museum at Leiden; since 1927 Director of ‘Artis’ (zoological garden) at Amsterdam.

Till the present only one record of him having collected plants came to our knowledge (cf. Danser in Bull. Jard, Bot. Buit. sér. 3, vol. 8, 1926/27, p. 223). The cited plant from Sitoegoenoeng (W. Java) (coll. June 6, 1916), is in Herb. Bog. [BO].
