Born: 1906, The Hague, Holland.

 

career:

Entomologist, educated and graduated (Ph.Dr 1933) at Leiden University; since 1928 on the staff of the Institute for Plant Diseases at Buitenzorg, Java; after World War II Head of that Institute. From 1952-55 professor of phytopathology (zoological part) at the Agricultural College at Bogor. From 1955 onwards employed in the Zoological Museum at Leiden; in 1962 appointed Extraordinary Professor of Zoological Taxonomy at Groningen University and from 1964-68 Ordinary Professor in the same discipline at Leiden University. At present living at Putten, Gld., Netherlands.

In 1932 he was stationed for two months at Pangkal Pinang in Banka to make investigations into the pepper disease.

 

Collecting localities:

W. Java: slope G. Salak above Waroengloa (July 14, 1929); Celebes (Oct. 1930); Banka (Febr. 1932), at Pangkal Pinang etc.; W. Java: Malimping (Apr. 1940); Rantja Bali, G. Patoeha (Sept. 27, 1941); Banka (1941).
