Born: 1909, Rotterdam, Holland.

 

career:

Forester, educated at the Agricultural College, Wageningen; rubber selectionist on some estates in E. Java, 1936-37; from 1937-41 in the employ of the Pedological Institute at Buitenzorg, especially charged with the investigation of tropical swamp forests in the coastal areas of Borneo.1 After his return from internment as a P.O.W. in Siam and Japan, he was appointed Forest Officer in Lombok (Lesser Sunda Islands) in 1946; in 1948 on sick-leave to Europe.

 

Collecting localities:

1938. SE. Borneo: environs of Bandjermasin (Sept. 17-25): Mentawei and Kahajan Rivers, on so-called ‘pematangs’ which are only flooded in the rainy season during high tides.

Herb. Bog. [BO]: 70 nos, including a new Loranthaceae, viz Macrosolen urceolatus Danser.2
