Born: 1872, ? , Switzerland. Died: 1948 or ‘49.

career:

Son of William Barbey,¹ who was educated at Munich and elsewhere in Natural Sciences (specially zoology and entomology) and subsequently in forestry; Dr Sci.; for years forester at Montcherand Sur Orbe (Vaud, Switzerland); retired several years ago; since four years paralyzed after a stroke.

He made a voyage round the world, evidently visiting Java in March 1891.

1891. Hongkong; W. Java (March): Buitenzorg Bot. Garden, Batavia (8), Sindanglaja (11), Bandoeng (12); Singapore (March); Ceylon, Calcutta.

Java plants, e.g. collected in the Botanic Gardens at Buitenzorg, in Herb. Deless. (Geneva [G]), and probably in Herb. Barbey-Boissier too. 158 nos of his ‘Tour du Monde’.
