Born: 1893, Weltevreden, Java. Died: 1933, Bandjermasin, Borneo.

 

career:

Wife of an official of the D.E.I. Civil Service. She made botanical collections in the islands where her husband was stationed.

Dendrobium and Vanda boumaniae J.J.Sm. were named after her.

 

Collecting localities:

1922-24. S. Sumatra:1 Kroë, Benkoelen. 1925-26. SW. Celebes:2 Djeneponto; Bangkoa (Oct. 29, 1925); Tolo (May 1926); Malakadji (1926).-1926-28. W. Timor:3 Koepang.-1928-31. Alor: Kalabahi.-1931-33. SE. Borneo: Kota Baroe (P. Laoet) (1931-32) and Bandjermasin (1932-33).

 

collections:

Herb. Bog. [BO]: from Celebes > 100 nos, viz 1-97 and 178-181; from Timor and Alor 182 nos (the nos 98-177 in 1929 from W. Timor and Alor); etc. She collected Lumnitzera lutea (Gaud.) Presl near Koepang, in the type locality of Gaudichaud.4 Many living plants in Hort. Bog.
