Born: 1912, Hymera, Indiana, U.S.A.

 

career:

Botanist, educated at Ohio State University (M.S. 1937), taking his Ph. Dr’s degree at the Northwestern University, Evanston (Ill.) in 1941; Instructor of Botany, Northwestern University, 1938-42; Assistant Professor of Botany, Northwestern University, 1942 onwards; U.S. Army, Infantry, 1943; Medical Dept, 1944-46.

 

Collecting localities:

NE. New Guinea: Milne Bay (March-Aug. 1944), collecting Algae betw. June and Aug.).-Schouten Islands: Biak (Aug. 1944-June 1945), collecting along the S. coast between Bosnek and Sorido from Sept. 1944-May 1945. -Philippines. Leyte: Palo (June-Dec. 1945), collecting Algae along the coastal areas in vicinity of Palo, Tacloban, Santa Fe, San Joaquin and Dulag between July to Dec. Collected partly with G.E. Winder.
