Bruinsma, Abraham Eduard Johannes

Born: 1852, Leeuwarden, Fr., Holland. Died: 1943, Ede, Gld, Holland.



Entered the D.E. Indian Forest Service in 1876; he was appointed Inspector of Forests in 1897 and Chief Inspector in 1900; retired in 1907. Thanks to him Koorders (see there) was given the opportunity for the floristical investigation of Java.

He is commemorated in the plant genus Bruinsmia Boerl. & Koord.



Herb. Bog. [BO]: a few plants from Semarang, Centr. Java (Febr. 14, 1890). Hort. Bog.: living plants from Tandjong Pinang, div. Mengala, Lampong Districts, S. Sumatra (pres. 1893).
