Born: 1885, Glasgow, Scotland.

 

career:

Agriculturist, educated at Edinburgh University (D. Sc. 1922); Director of Agriculture, Rabaul, for New Guinea, 1923-26; in the Department of Agriculture, Malaya, 1926-29 and from 1946 onwards. He was employed in Nigeria too.

 

Collecting localities:

1924-25. In NE. New Guinea he went to Lae and the headwaters of River Markham with River Ramu, returning to Lae.

 

collections:

Herb. Kew [K]: plants of the Territory of New Guinea (pres. by the Dept of Agr. Rabaul in 1925); 19 dupl. in U.S. Nat. Herb. Wash. [US]. According to his own information he collected seeds from Mucuna bennettii near Lae, at the mouth of the Markham Valley.
