Born: 1761. Died: 1834.

 

career:

Missionary and Orientalist, in India from 1794. Editor of Roxburgh’s Flora Indica. He is cited as the donor of a plant from Malacca (1808) to the Calcutta Bot. Gard. (cf. Roxburgh, Hort. Beng. 1814). Probably what he did was sending plant material from a Malacca plant cultivated in his botanic garden at Serampore.
