Born: 1915, London, England.

 

career:

Of Portuguese nationality, was educated in the College of Agriculture at Lisbon; meteorologist with the Pan-American Airways at Lisbon. He travelled in Europe, Africa, Indonesia, and Australia. In July 1946 he went to the East as Secretary to the Governor of Portuguese Timor. During his stay, till Nov. 1947, he travelled all over the island, including the Dutch part. He worked in Australia with Dr Dadswell on the macroscopic features of some Timorese woods.

He returned to Portuguese Timor towards the end of 1951 as agricultural officer. In 1957 he studied social anthropology at Oxford University.

Author of several papers on Timor.1

Timor. In Herb. Leiden [L]: 380 nos.
