Died: 1895, Bandoeng, Java, Indonesia.

 

career:

Lieutenant in the Dutch Navy; in 1857 appointed Administrator of the Depot of hydrographic maps, books, etc. at Batavia; Head of the Hydrographic Department of the Navy Office at Batavia, 1860-70 and from 1876 onwards; from 1870-72 on European leave and subsequently to the Minahassa (N. Celebes) for an investigation into the culture of coffee there. Pensioned off in 1894.
