Born: 1881, Leeuwarden, Fr., Holland.

 

career:

Botanist, educated at Amsterdam University, who took his Dr’s degree at Amsterdam; for some years a teacher at a secondary school at Utrecht; Sub-Director of the Agricultural Department of the Experiment Station for the Java Sugar Industry (Pasoerocan, E. Java), 1913-18; Agricultural Adviser of the Ned. Ind. Landbouw Mij at Soerabaja, 1918-28; subsequently appointed Extraordinary Professor at the Agricultural College at Wageningen. After World War II he was interned on account of political activity before and during the German occupation of Holland.
