Merrill in Enum. Philip. Fl.Pl. cites a no 27066, probably collected in the F.B. (cf. sub Forestry Bureau, Manila) series, Herb. Manila [PNH].

Backer (cf. Verkl. Woordenb., 1936) mentions Guzmania Ruiz & Pav., named after A. Guzman, in the beginning of the 19th century pharmacist in Spain. With a view to the high number cited by Merrill, it is evident that the latter cannot be the collector.
