Hulstijn, Pieter van

Born: 1881, Breda, N. Br., Holland. Died: 1944, in prisoner camp in Java.

 

career:

Since 1902 in the D.E.I. army; retired in 1928 with the rank of lieutenant-colonel; subsequently in the military high court of justice and promoted to the rank of major-general. He took his degree in literature and philosophy. He conducted an expedition (see below) to the Moluccas.1 In 1948 still living in Java.

Several plants were named after him.

 

Collecting localities:

Soela Islands (May 1913-May 1914), cf. collecting localities sub Atje(h).-Obi Islands (till Aug. 1914), cf. ditto sub Saänam.
