Died: 1868, Java.

 

career:

Son of a former head-gardener of Lord Houghton, was sent on a collecting mission to the Far East in the employ of the horticultural firm of Veitch & Sons.

Celosia huttoni Mast. and other plants were named after him.

 

Collecting localities:

1866-68. Java (1866), Moluccas1 and Timor (1868).

 

collections:

Probably in Herb. Kew [K] with General Herb. H.J. Veitch. He collected a few orchids.

In the list of acquisitions of Kew Herb. [K] is a collection from the Cape and South Africa collected by Henry Hutton; collectors may be identical.
