Died: 1927, Buitenzorg, Java.



An Indonesian, for many years ‘mantri’ of the Herbarium at Buitenzorg; he attended numerous expeditions.

Gymnacranthera ibutii Holth. (ms.) andMicrotatorchis iboetii J.J.Sm. were named after him.


Collecting localities:

1921. S. Sumatra, Lampong Districts: G. Rate Telanggaran (Nov. 12-18), G. Raté Berenong (18-29), Wai Lima Estate (Dec. 1-15).-1922. Attending the Danish expedition to the Kai Islands, visiting the Aroe Islands (Dobo) and Ambon too (cf. sub Hj. Jensen and Mortensen).-1924. With C.B. Kloss (see there) and H.H. Karny to the Mentawei (= Mentawai) Islands, W of Sumatra: P. Siberoet (Sept. 8-Oct. 31).-1925. With K.W. Dammerman (see there) to Soemba (Lesser Sunda Isls) (March 14-May 26): Waingapoe and environs; excursions along the Kambera; Waikelo (Apr. 5); staying at Karoni, trips to Totoka, Palla, Waikaboebak, Waikelo; Waingapoe, via Melolo, Mao Marroe (May 3-13), Kananggar and vicinity, Lai Rondja, lake on the southern slope of Waidjelo Valley; setting out from Kananggar (25) via Penang to Waingapoe.-1926. He accompanied H.J. Lam (see there) to Celebes, the Moluccas, etc.
