Born: 1878, Roermond, L., Holland. Died: 1972, Wassenaar, ZH., Holland.

 

career:

Was educated at the Technical College at Delft; Chief Assistant of Microbiology, 1901-07; in 1907 appointed Professor of Technical Botany. In 1911 he came to Java as a delegate of the Dutch Government to the Fibre Congress, but spent some time at Buitenzorg for research work of a purely botanical nature in August.1
