Born: 1887, Arnhem, Gld, Holland. Died: 1960, Netherlands.

 

career:

Passed the natural history examination (K IV) in 1920, and took her Ph. Dr’s degree in 1928 at Utrecht University; Custodian of the Laboratory for Technical Botany of the Technical College, Delft. In 1932 she was granted the Buitenzorg Fund;1 when staying in the D.E.I., she made some collecting tours, on one of which she discovered the genus Elisma to occur in Java.2

 

Collecting localities:

1932. W. Java: Buitenzorg (end of March-July 7), making some minor trips, viz to the Islands in the Bay of Batavia: P. Leiden and P. Purmerend (May 11); Batavia, Wijnkoopsbaai, Tjibodas (staying 2 weeks, climbing G. Gedeh-Pangrango), Bandoeng, Tjinjiroean, G. Tangkoeban Prahoe, Kawah Kamodjan, G. Papandajan (May).-Tour across Java etc. (July 7-Aug. 12). Centr. Java: Noesa Kambangan and Diëng Plateau; E. Java: G. Idjen (July 25), G. Tengger (31), and visits to experiment stations (e.g. Rante Daroengan on the S. slope of G. Smeroe, July 28); Bali (Aug. 4).-Sumatra (Aug. 20-Sept. 3), West Coast: Fort de Kock, Haraukloof, Batang Paloepoeh, etc.; via Sibolga (Tapanoeli) to Medan (East Coast).
