Born: 1854, Greifswald, Germany. Died: 1899 (not 1900), Kiel, Germany.

 

career:

Was appointed Professor of Botany at Kiel in 1895. He travelled for a year in Java,1 Japan, and W. America, on his return being ill. He was especially interested in flower biology.2

 

Collecting localities:3

W. Java: staying at the Foreigners’ Laboratory, Buitenzorg (Oct. 1898-March 1899), collecting in the Botanic Gardens; making trips to Bandoeng (Dec. 26, 1898), Tjibodas (Jan. 11-16, 1899); Islands in the Bay of Batavia, viz Agnieten Isls (Febr. 27) and P. Amsterdam (28).
