Born: 1884, Dongjun near Franeker, Fr., Holland.

career:

Chemist, educated at Leiden University (Ph. Dr, c. 1911); teacher at Maastricht, and subsequently going to Brazil; about 1917 he went to Java as a teacher at the Medical School (N.I.A.S.) at Soerabaja; retired in 1938.

He was a colleague and friend of A. Rant (see there), with whom he made several excursions.
