Born: 1899, Zutfen, Gld, Holland.

 

career:

After secondary education at Zutfen, attended the Technical School at Dordrecht; from 1920-22 Chemical Engineer of the sugar factory Gempolkrep at Modjokerto (E. Java). He returned to Holland on account of his health, and entered the service of the Coal-trade Co. Ltd at Rotterdam as a chemist. In 1924 he founded a private laboratory for Fuel and Oil Research in the same town. Since 1932 he is besides Lecturer at Utrecht University.

He is the author of numerous papers on coal and oil chemistry.

 

Collecting localities:

E. Java: environs of Modjokerto and Poedjon near Malang (c. 1920-21). Tosari, Bromo; Tjandi Tikoes; G. Kawi, all in 1921.

His collection was sent for identification to Herb. Bog. [BO] in Jan. 1921; from various plants duplicates were kept at Buitenzorg, the highest number was 86; the remaining part in private herbarium, which was presented later to the wellknown Dutch amateur botanist Dr A.W. Kloos presented to Herb. Leiden [L]. The total numbering at least up to 159, possibly not all represented at Leiden.
