Born: 1799, York, England. Died: 1874, Rangoon, Burma.

Missionary in Burma from 1830. He evidently collected plants in Burma (cf. card index Burkill). There is a possibility that he is the man who was mentioned by Lasègue (under Masson)1 as the collector of Sumatra plants.
