Born: 1903, Utrecht, U., Holland.

 

career:

Botanist, educated at Amsterdam University (1922-27), taking his Ph.Dr’s degree when on leave in 1934; teacher in Natural Historv at Arnhem (Holland), 1926-27, and subsequently at the Christian Lyceum at Bandoeng, interrupted by Japanese internment and evacuation to Holland, followed by his replacement in 1947. In 1948 appointed Professor of Botany in the Technical College at Bandung; retired in spring 1954, and returned to Holland, settling in The Hague.7

He is especially interested in the problems of flower biology; his studies resulted in several papers. Besides, he is the author of some guides for the environs of Bandoeng.
