Rink, Hinrik (or Hinrich) Johannes

Born: 1819, Copenhagen, Denmark. Died: 1893, Kristiania, Norway.

 

career:

Geographer, educated  at the Polytechnical College, Copenhagen. Ph. Dr Kiel 1844. Geologist of the ‘Galathea Expedition’ (cf. itiner. etc. sub Didrichsen);1 because of illness he did not accompany the Galathea Expedition all the time, but returned to Denmark from P. Penang. From 1848-51 he travelled in Greenland; subsequently in the Greenland Civil Service and Inspector for S. Greenland; Director of the Trade to Greenland, 1871-82. In 1883 he settled at Kristiania.
