Born: 1898, Leiden, Holland. Died: 1964, Utrecht, Netherlands.

 

career:

Botanist, educated at Utrecht University, taking his Dr’s degree when on furlough in 1934. In 1927 he went to Java in the employ of the Experiment Station for the Java Sugar Industry (Pasoeroean); since 1938 appointed Selectionist. Since 1953 Professor of Genetics at Utrecht University.

Founder, and since 1940 honorary member, of the Dutch Genetical Society. Author of some plant-genetical papers.
