Toxopeus, Hendrik Jannes

Born: 1902, Groningen, Gr., Holland.

 

career:

Geneticist, educated at Groningen University; since 1928 in the employ of the General Experiment Station for Agriculture at Buitenzorg, at first stationed at Poenten in E. Java for the cultivation of Citrus varieties, subsequently at Buitenzorg as Head of the Botanical Laboratory; in 1948 he was stationed for 3 years at Wageningen (Instituut voor Veredeling van Landbouwgewassen). His papers deal with genetics and cultivation of Citrus, capok, and other useful plants.

 

Collecting localities:

E. Java: G. Dorowati (end of Nov. 1930 and March 1931); G. Kawi (1931); G. Lawoe (May 1937); Moluccas: Ambon and Batjan (1940).

Herb. Bog. [BO], incl. 30 nos from the Dorowati, 11 from the Lawoe, and material of wild cloves from the Moluccas.
