Born: 1881, Zetten (Valburg), G, Holland.

 

career:

Biologist, teacher at secondary schools in Java from 1912 onwards.1 In 1925 he took his Ph.Dr’s degree at Utrecht University, and towards the end of the year was appointed teacher at the S.T.O.V.I.A. (Medical College) at Batavia; from 1927 teacher at the N.I.A.S. (Medical school at Soerabaja); in 1932 appointed Director of the Students’ Hostel at Batavia. He retired in 1933, but stayed at Batavia; after World War II he returned to Holland in 1948 and settled at Oegstgeest.

His main interest is medicinal plants.

W. Java: Selabintana (June 1915); Centr. Java: Semarang (Aug. 1916); Salatiga (before 1918); G. Oengaran (June 1919).
