Born: 1913, Zoeterwoude, Z.H., Holland.

 

career:

Passed his youth with his parents in Java; geologist, educated at Leiden University (Ph.Dr 1937); in 1937 he entered the employ of the B.P.M. (Batavian Oil Co.). He collected plants during secondary-school years.

 

Collecting localities:

1927-31. W.Java: Batavia, G. Gedeh-Pangrango, Tjilintjing (March 16 and 31, 1929), Bantam, G. Tjibodas (Tjampea), Lembang, Pengalengan,1 G. Papandajan, etc.

 

collections:

Herb. Leiden [L]: 141 phanerogams and Fungi from Switzerland and Java (pres. 1937/38). The cited1 Java plants are numbered A 23 101 and A 23102. These high numbers are the result of a decimal system whereby the units refer to the species, the tens to the genus, the hundreds to the family, etc.
